Albemarle Senior Games
The Albemarle Senior Games is sanctioned by the North Carolina Senior Games, which began in 1983 with a vision to create a year round health promotion and education program for adults 55 years of age and better.
Each Spring, participants can enjoy friendly competition with others in their own sex and age category within five year increments (55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-100, 100+).
You can choose from over 40 athletic events! We offer Bocce’, Bowling, Horseshoes, Shuffleboard, Tennis, Croquet, Golf, and much more! You don’t need to be an athlete, because out goal is simple “Fun, Fitness, and Fellowship”.
In addition to athletic events we offer SilverArts. This is a “Celebration of the Creative Expression of Seniors”. You can choose from over 35 artistic categories, including Photography, Painting, Dancing, Singing, Writing, Woodworking, Needlework, and even Cheerleading, just to name a few!
As a program of the Albemarle Commission Area Agency on Aging, our games primarily serve Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Washington counties, but are open to all full-time residents of North Carolina.
As always, those who qualify at our local games are invited to attend State Finals in Raleigh in the Fall.
